The short version: your scans never leave your Mac. There's no account and no tracking. The app has no analytics, and this website doesn't use cookies.
The Derived app
- Scans stay on your Mac. Derived reads folder sizes and Xcode's own records (project paths, archive names, simulator lists) to show you what's there. The last scan is saved on your Mac in
~/Library/Application Support/com.qc.derived/last-scan.jsonso the app opens with numbers. It's never uploaded. Delete that file to erase it. - Cleaning happens locally. Derived deletes or moves to the Trash only the items you confirm, and only inside Xcode's own folders.
- License activation. When you enter your license key, Derived sends the key and your Mac's model name (for example “MacBook Pro (14-inch, Nov 2023)”, never your computer's name) to Polar, who run our checkout, to activate it, and checks about once a day that it's still valid. The model name is what you see next to each Mac on your purchase page.
- Updates. Derived checks our website for new versions. That request includes your app version and macOS version, like any download does.
This website
- No ads, no cookies, and nothing that follows you around the web.
- We may count anonymous visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or fingerprinting, and a few anonymous clicks (like “Buy” or “Download”) as simple daily totals. None of this identifies you.
- Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard request data (like IP addresses) to serve and protect the site.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Polar, the merchant of record for Derived. They process your name, email, billing details and payment method under their privacy policy. We receive your email and order details so we can send your license key and support your purchase. We never see your card number.
